Information for Officials and Volunteers
We are always happy to welcome new volunteers to our sport. If you would like to join the BEDE Events team as a volunteer, we would love to hear from you. Telephone 01949 829061, email firstname.lastname@example.org. You do not need to come to the sport with any degree of knowledge, we provide any training that is necessary. There are many benefits to becoming a volunteer with BEDE, including running 3 activities per year exclusively for volunteers, these have included yard visits to leading riders, tours round the Remount Army depot at Melton Mowbray where all the horses from the Kings Troop and Household Cavalry are based when not in London etc. We also have a party and a training day each year, as well as offering vouchers to be used against start fees or Cross Country Schooling for those who ride and escaping the ballot! So why not join us and sample what we do. Eventing is a unique sport as we are very privileged to be welcomed to some of the most beautiful sites in the Country.

The season is fast approaching and we are looking forward to a full programme of events with the addition of Aske Horse Trials to our portfolio this year. As those of you who have helped us previously will be aware we are having a new database built and to access this you will need a log in and password which will have been emailed to you at the end of November. The link to the database is here. If you need any assistance with using this, or have any feedback please do let me know by email on email@example.com or call me on 01949 829061 ext 5.
We now have a new range of merchandise – The BEDE Collection – which is available at special rates to all our helpers and volunteers. We will be placing bulk orders periodically, which will help to keep costs down, so please look out for further information within your helper emails. Click here to see the new range and click here for an order form.

VOLUNTEERS POLICY: As with any sport, we rely heavily on volunteers to be able to put on our events to such a high standard. We need about 200 volunteers for a small event and we do try to look after them well and ask riders to appreciate their contribution to the sport too. As a small token of our appreciation for your voluntary contribution to Bede Events, as a Volunteer you are entitled to a £15 Voucher for each day of volunteering that you do at any Bede British Evening Affiliated Event. (Oasby 1, Belton, Shelford 1,BCA, Firle, Aske, Shelford 2, Osberton and Oasby 2). These vouchers can be used towards start fees at a Bede Event and must be presented when collecting your number. Please do not feel obliged to volunteer for more days than you really want to! Any feedback you have about any aspect of our events can be emailed to Anna@bedeltd.co.uk. Please be aware that the following terms and conditions apply to the vouchers: 1. Vouchers must be claimed at the event you are volunteering at. They are available from the Event Office. Unfortunately we are not able to provide vouchers retrospectively. 2. Vouchers are not transferable and can only be used by the person named on the voucher. 3. Please be aware that there is an expiry date on the voucher. We are unable to redeem expired vouchers. 4. Only one voucher can be used per transaction From time to time we will have branded merchandise for sale and will endeavour to offer our volunteers a discount on such items. Please look out for these offers at point of sale, which is usually either the Event Office or online. Regular volunteers who commit to a number of days throughout the season following the preseason email will be issued with a Bede Official’s Card, which is valid on all days of all chargeable events (Belton and Osberton) regardless of whether or not you are volunteering.
