With boosts to prize money always a welcome sight, BEDE Events has confirmed an £8,000 boost to the prize fund across both spring international fixtures – Thoresby (3rd – 5th April) and Aspen Cooling Osberton (1) 22nd – 24th May).
Through a partnership with Succeed, a new Leading Rider prize is being created at both fixtures. Offering leading riders, a bonus £1,000. Placing points will be awarded to each rider, with the riders accumulating the post points at the event being awarded the cash bonus.
Continuing the theme of leading riders, Lycetts will once again be awarding a £1,000 bonus to the highest placed Lycetts insured rider in the Grantham Cup.
Osberton (1) will be awash with new prizes, with the Connolly Red Mills supported RoR Eventing Championships and BEDE’s Spring Bonus.
The RoR Championships will be contested at BE90, BE100 and Novice levels, with prize winners at each level receiving enhanced prize money, in addition to prizes in kind. To qualify, horse and rider combinations will need to achieve a minimum of two MERs at any standard British Eventing competition between 1st March 2025 and 26th April 2026.
The new Spring Bonus will reward BEDE’s frequent flyers with substantial prizes in kind bundles, in dedicated BE90, BE100 and Novice sections on Sunday 24th May.
Of the initiatives BEDE Events Director Stuart Buntine commented:
“We know prize money in eventing often falls far behind that of our friends in show jumping, so anything we can do to work with our generous sponsors to increase prize funds is a bonus. In creating these new initiatives, we can bring bonus prize money to those at BE90, BE100 and Novice, and not just those competing at the highest levels.
I’d love it if the leading rider prize was won from someone competing outside of the 3* and 4*!”
