OFFICIALS & VOLUNTEERS

At BEDE Events we’re keen to welcome everyone to our events as volunteers and officials.  Whether you’re an amateur rider looking to learn more, or to give back to the sport you love, or whether you’re just a passionate supporter of eventing.  We’d love to hear from you and welcome you with open arms to our Volunteer family.

There are many benefits that come with being a BEDE Events volunteer. We try to run a few activities a year exclusively for our volunteers, with previous activities including yard visits with world-class riders and a tour around the Remount Army depot which houses Kings Troop and Household Cavalry horses. We also have volunteers-only parties, and offer exclusive opportunities for our volunteers. We have a volunteers shop for BEDE branded clothing, accessories and even a dog coat! Use the link above to access this.

Eventing is a unique sport which we’re extremely passionate about. We’re privileged to host our events at some of the most beautiful sites in the country, and to welcome top quality eventers. To get involved, and join us in bringing our fantastic sport to life, please email anna@bedeltd.co.uk or chloe@bedeltd.co.uk or call 01949 829061.

Godolphin Yard Visit

Volunteers were offered the opportunity to tour round the yard and gardens at the famous stud yard, Godolphin. During the day we met some of the stud horses up close and were given a guided tour round the yard, learning the history.

Museum of the Horse

Volunteers went for a social evening to Sally Mitchell’s Gallery where we had a few drinks and light nibbles while educating ourselves on the history of horses, tack and equipment. Sally put on a fantastic quiz to identify different and what they were used for

Sally Wood Trophy

The Sally Wood Volunteer Award with BEDE Events

Sally Wood has been a volunteer within the sport for many years, as she has loved helping people and being involved in the sport in various different areas. Sally retired from work and decided she would take up eventing at the age of 60! She successfully competed upto Novice level! Moving forwards 10 years, Sally recieved a shattering diagnosis of terminal cancer, and reached out to us to offer an award to our volunteers. Sally said “I felt in conjunction with BEDE who have always hugely valued their volunteers that it was time for a little bit of official recognition of the army of volunteers that keep each and every event going each and every year.”

In 2025, Liz Young was awarded the Sally Wood Trophy at Osberton, for her continued loyalty over many years, flexibility and happy to adapt to any role, familiar or unfamiliar. Liz is always reliable and a great member of the BEDE Volunteer Army! Alongside taking home her trophy, Liz will be headed to Henrietta Knight’s racing yard for a morning to include breakfast and watching her horses loose jump and on the gallops.

2024, saw Sandra Wain being awarded with this trophy at Osberton, for her ability to do anything which we throw at her, no matter the size of the event. She has been part of the BEDE Volunteer Team for over 10 years and continues to volunteer across our events. Sandra won the trophy, a Yard Tour with Pippa Funnell, a course walk at Badminton or Burghley with Lucinda Green and a £50 Tiggas Saddlery Voucher.
